Leafette

Privacy policy

Last updated 2 November 2026.

The short version

Leafette collects no data. The developer has no servers, no account system, no analytics and no tracking, and cannot see your journal.

Where your journal is kept

Your journal is kept on your device, in Leafette's own storage. On iPhone and iPad the Share extension hands text to the app through an App Group on the same device. Leafette does not use iCloud or any sync service. Journal files you save go only where you put them.

What leaves your device

Nothing. Leafette uses no network at all: it declares no network access, and has no ads, no crash reporting and no usage statistics. Text you share, a journal file or Markdown you export goes only where you send it.

Permissions

The microphone, and on Apple devices Speech Recognition, are used only when you tap the microphone button to record a voice memo. Speech is turned into text on the device with the system's on-device recognizer; Leafette never uses the network for it, deletes the audio as soon as the text is ready and keeps only the text. Choosing a photo to scan text from uses the system photo picker, which needs no photo-library permission.
